Gen-Z x El Cambio Initiative is the Latino-led immigration and advocacy arm of Gen-Z for Change Initiative, using digital tools and creative strategy to build lasting progressive impact for the Latino community in the U.S.
Our team is composed of first- and second-generation immigrants—Latino Gen-Zers who bring lived experience and cultural fluency to the content we create, the policy we shape, and the audiences we serve. We speak the language—both literally and figuratively—of the communities most affected by anti-immigrant rhetoric and legislation.
Across platforms, Gen-Z X El Cambio reaches millions monthly. Sharing bilingual, culturally relevant content that blends pop culture, and news to educate and mobilize our people.
In collaboration with Casa De Paz, Gen-Z for Change launched Letters from Detention: a living archive of stories from those currently or formerly in immigration detention. Through our creator network, we were able to platform the letters shared on this site to hundreds of thousands of people online.
In collaboration with Freedom for Immigrants, Gen-Z for Change, and Gen-Z X El Cambio, we created Detention 101 to break down the harmful effects of the U.S. detention system on immigrant communities. The series used current events to educate audiences on President Trump’s agenda of accelerated detention and criminalization. We explained what immigration detention was, how it worked, and how we got here by unpacking decades of anti-immigrant legislation and ICE’s history of abuse. We also highlighted internal resistance and exposed the financial forces behind detention.
As part of this effort, we produced 3 videos and 4 posts that reached over 200,000 views, raising awareness about the realities of the detention system, its abuse, and the urgent need for change.
